Virginia Woolf expressed that "a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction." Money for the "the power to contemplate." A room with a lock on the door to "think for oneself" and to utterly be oneself. She wrote: "By hook or by crook, I hope that you will possess yourselves of money enough to travel and to idle, to contemplate the future or the past of the world, to dream over books and loiter at street corners and let the line of thought dip deep into the stream." Woolf's ideas transcend many creative realms - fiction, poetry, melodies, art. This is my room (on a very clean day). I paint in this room. I read and write. I forge books and stitch their spines. And on occasion I turn off all the lights save an amber one and I develop film and photos. This is my room...
